A few words about the Siberian Express....

My love for animals dates back to my earliest childhood with the acquisition of Clyde, my very first cat: a likely mix of European Shorthair and Angora. As a young woman, I rescued, bought, or adopted cats and purebred or mixed-breed dogs from the wild or shelters, as well as farm animals, including horses. Later, I naturally gravitated towards breeding, always prioritizing animal welfare. I chose this magnificent cat from Siberia, who reminds me so much of Clyde, my very first "sweetheart cat." Furthermore, this intelligent and athletic feline is also hypoallergenic, offering allergy sufferers the opportunity to experience the joy of sharing their lives with a furry companion. Through selective breeding, I hope to contribute to the preservation of the breed with kittens whose parents have been chosen according to rigorous physical criteria and a good temperament.

At the age of six, I saw little balls of fur in a cardboard box outside school, nestled next to their mother. My gaze was immediately drawn to a black and white kitten. It was love at first sight. It had to be him, no other... I brought him home. He never left my side until the day of his passing. I slept with him face to face, I took him everywhere: in the car on the back window where he lay peacefully gazing at the scenery, delighted; in the cabin on the plane; on foot, because he loved to walk with me to the bus every morning; or on a leash for strolls in the park of the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye... He was my only true friend, my comfort blanket, my first big cat, a bundle of love! He lived for 13 years.

An environment that respects their needs

The Siberian cat, like all cats, needs daily exercise to maintain good mental health. At the Siberian Express cattery, we have optimized their outdoor spaces, ensuring they have at least 10 square meters of floor space per cat, with the largest measuring 30 square meters. Within this living space, we have arranged the layout so they can enjoy the joys of parkour (shelves, cat trees, rope bridges, etc.). In addition to these spatial arrangements, we visit them daily in their enclosure to maintain a bond with humans, which they adore (petting, kisses, play, brushing, etc.). Finally, they are regularly invited to share our living space in the house when circumstances allow (i.e., outside of their heat cycle to avoid urine marking) and when the females are expecting. The mothers have their babies in the house.

The Siberian Express crew

Sandra: This LOOF-registered cattery (Approval No. 53696) is my passion, and I have dedicated all my energy to it since its inception. As an ACACED* certified cattery owner, I am always seeking information to further enhance the well-being of my cats and offer you high-quality kittens, both physically and psychologically. Therefore, I search for breeders internationally to find breeding cats that guarantee the purity of their lineage and also eliminate any potential inbreeding problems that could be detrimental to the Siberian breed.

Henri: My husband, who also holds the ACACED* certificate, helps me and fills in for me when needed with the breeding, although it's not his main occupation. Under my supervision, he carries out new renovations and maintains existing ones. A true animal lover, he helps socialize our cats and kittens by giving them daily moments of affection. * ACACED stands for "Attestation of Knowledge for Domestic Pets," awarded following training and an assessment provided by a training organization accredited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry.

A healthy, sanitary environment

In our breeding facility, we pay close attention to the hygiene of the premises and animals to ensure that all our little creatures are born and raised in the best possible conditions to maintain their good health. We use a vacuum cleaner (for dust, fleas, etc.), steam cleaner with household vinegar and disinfectants (bactericides), uncalcined diatomaceous earth (for parasites), spot-on treatments (for fleas and ticks), and dewormers (for worms). We practice preventative measures as much as possible.

socialised kittens

At the Siberian Express cattery, our cats give birth in our nursery inside the house. In this safe space, they have several options for building their nest. In the hours leading up to giving birth, our females appreciate having company and often call out to us when they feel the time is right.. Although births are generally uneventful, our presence reassures our cats, who then allow us access to their kittens without any difficulty. However, during the first few days after giving birth, we minimize our interactions with the kittens and let the mother cater to their well-being. Our monitoring focuses on ensuring the kittens are gaining weight (approximately 25g/day) and that they are healthy.

After 10 days, Siberian kittens begin to open their eyes and cautiously explore the world around them. It is at this point that interactions with them intensify, particularly through handling and petting, so that they become accustomed to contact with us, the unusual cats that we are. At one month old, we further intensify our interactions with them: stimulating them through play, touch, and voice.

At around two months old, kittens see the veterinarian for the first time to begin the mandatory vaccinations required in France and to be microchipped. During this visit, the veterinarian checks the kitten's health and proper development. Following this initial vaccination, the kittens will be exposed to even more interaction, playing with our children or exploring the outdoors for a limited time under our supervision to strengthen the bond between cat and human.

The kittens' socialization will continue within the litter under their mother's supervision until they are three months old, although they are weaned as early as two months. During this period, they will learn social cues from their mother and refine their personalities through play with their siblings. Integrated into our home, they will become accustomed to family life (vacuum cleaner, children's games and noises, dogs barking, etc.).

Ilaria  adopted WILLOW

Very lovely people. We went for a preliminary allergy test and they welcomed us warmly and let us stay until we were satisfied with the allergy test. They gave us all the required information with precision and clarity. We adopted a wonderful kitten. She's very friendly, super well behaved. The adoption price is in line with the rest of the breeder for a LOOF cat. Great experience! Definitely recommend.
